Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint Preview
After our most recent Supercars event in Townsville, we head back to Queensland this weekend for the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint. It’s an important one for me because Coates Hire is one of my long time personal sponsors. They’ve been behind me since 2011, so I want to put on a good show for their staff and customers who come out to the races.
I’ve been fairly busy in the couple of weeks between rounds. Last weekend I competed in round 4 of the Australian Karting Championships in Emerald, North Queensland.
It was the first time the Emerald Go Kart Club has hosted a national level competition, and like many of the drivers there, it was my first time racing at that track. I finished 6th in the final race, and overall had a really enjoyable weekend.
Because I’m in the middle of a crazy six-week period of travel and racing, I had to send the dogs to stay with my mum and dad in Adelaide for a few weeks. Needless to say, my mum has her hands full looking after two Labradors AND their dog Ali, but I think everyone is coping well. And something tells me that Doug and Nelson are being spoilt rotten!
There is an additional drivers practice session this Friday at Queensland Raceway, and again my endurance co-driver Macauley Jones will get some laps in Car 8. Brad Jones Racing is still chasing its first race win and podium at Queensland Raceway, so it would be awesome to help change that statistic for the team!
We are running a bright new livery this weekend, with support from Dunlop Super Dealers. I think it looks great, and would almost go so far as to say it’s my favourite livery of the ones we’ve run this season.
Speaking of new shiny things, I’ve recently launched this new website. It has some great features and is compatible with mobile devices so even if you’re on the go, check it out!
Remember you can follow me on social media for updates across the event.
