CONSISTENT POINTS FOR PERCAT IN SYDNEY 🙌

Following a difficult weekend in Townsville, Matt Stone Racing’s Nick Percat has rebounded to form in Sydney, claiming dual top-ten finishes and securing a solid haul of points toward his 2024 Supercars Championship campaign.

Supercars were under lights in Sydney as the exciting ‘Supernight’ event arrived, with the #10 Bendix-backed Chevrolet LZ1 Camaro striking quickly by posting the second fastest time in Friday’s practice session, setting up for a promising weekend as the setup was on track.

A busy Saturday schedule saw two qualifying sessions and the 51-lap race, with Percat posting an impressive time that saw him earn an entry into the Shootout, where he would put together a lap fast enough that would see him take off from P7.

Temperatures dropped as the Supercars arrived on the grid for Race 15, with the sun completely set by the time lights went out. A steady race for Percat, including a couple of mid-race battles, saw an eighth-place finish as he crossed the flag.

Sunday arrived with the same stacked schedule, however, the sun was shining from the get-go in Sydney, allowing for warmer temperatures for teams and drivers. Percat again blitzed to the third-fastest qualifying time, backing that up with another P3 in the Shootout, and would take off from the second row of the grid.

A lengthy race comprised of multiple battles and a strategy call that didn’t fall in the #10’s favour, Percat raced home to another P8 finish, claiming a solid haul of championship points across the weekend.

The series heads to Tasmania SuperSprint on August 16-18, presenting drivers with a fresh challenge at the Southern circuit.

Nick Percat: “A massive thank you to the MSR crew after a great weekend in Sydney! We needed a rebound after a tough Townsville, and the car was speedy here as soon as we rolled out, which is a credit to the team. We were super fast in qualifying, although lacked just slightly with our race trim, which we can take a look at before Tasmania. All in all, fantastic weekend, and a place to keep building from.”
