PERCAT TAKES SECOND VICTORY OF 2024 IN TASSIE 🏆

It was a return to victory lane for Matt Stone Racing’s Nick Percat, who delivered a monster performance on Saturday to claim his second victory in the 2024 Supercars Championship in Tasmania.

The confidence was high the moment the #10 Bendix-backed entry rolled out of the truck and onto the track, with the philosophy of the car on target for a strong weekend at the Symmons Plains circuit.

Fast pace across the opening practice session translated into a P4 qualifying position during Saturday’s intense knockout-style format, where Percat would solidify his place on the second row of the grid for Race 17.

Launching to a good start, Percat sat steady in the opening stanza of the race, allowing the race to come to him, before a brilliant strategy play and successful use of the ‘overcut’ gave the #10 track position, as he became the leader of the race following the sequence of pitstops.

From there, Percat would fend off threats from behind, eventually managing the gap in the latter stages of the race to come home in an emphatic first place - his second for the MSR outfit.

Day two began with another strong car underneath him, however, a miscalculation on tyres left Percat at the very back of the grid once qualifying wrapped up, with the previous day's winner now faced with a mountain to climb in a comeback drive.

Fortunately, the South Australian ace was up for the challenge, as he powered through the field progressively to climb a staggering 17 positions throughout the 55-lap race, to come home in a commendable P7.

The Tasmanian result catapults Percat up into P6 in the championship, as the category now shifts into the enduro season.

Nick Percat: “The Bendix Racing car was on rails since we rolled out the truck in Tassie. It was a pleasure to drive all weekend. I can’t thank Matt Stone, Jack Bellotti, everyone on my car enough. The faith is there, and when you’ve got the faith you go well. The thing was a jet. When I realised how fast the pit stop was on Saturday, I was like ‘We’re going to come out in the lead here’ because that was seriously quick. Credit to the team, because they got me the track position and effectively the race win – and I could manage what I was doing from there. Sunday was a bit more unfortunate, although we still climbed our way up to P7, so all in all a fantastic weekend for myself and MSR.”
